I decided to draw a piece heavily inspired by Philippe Druillet, but without copying his art directly. This is what I came up with.
About 5 hours of work. Background quickly assembled in Photoshop to make the figure stick out a bit.
Automatic pencil, black gelpen, squared notebook, edits in photoshop 7.
Original format A4.
Druillet is possibly THE artist for me right now. I loved his art since I saw a couple of images reproduced in an article around 1991, but only recently I managed to find anything in a languge that I can understand (sadly don't know any french).
I think my recent fascination with Kirby comes out a little bit in this too (the way I drew the shadows and reflexes on the shield is Kirby-inspired).
Anyway, very ornamental style, a little on the edge of readability (at least in my case).
I might upload a second version later, assuming I'll color it properly at some point.
A B&w version of image is included in Inkbook #1, available through Indyplanet [link]
